The Fratellis, CSS, The Zutons and The Pigeon Detectives will headline MTV's Spanking New tour this spring.Each band, along with two support acts, will go on a three-date tour of the UK.The Fratellis will have support from The Ting Tings and Alphabeat; The Pigeon Detectives line up with The Metros and The Rascals; CSS will play with The Futureheads and New York's MGMT; and The Zutons will be joined by One Night Only and The Script.The Fratellis and Pigeon Detectives shows will stop at Cambridge, London and Liverpool, while CSS and The Zutons will play in Cardiff, Glasgow and Dublin.Currently in its third year, the tour aims to bring new music to six cities across the UK.Tickets go on sale Friday, March 7.> Click here for our review of Alphabeat's single 'Fascination' .
Video Conferencing As It Should Be: Multi-Party, Affordable, Cross ...
OoVoo is a new free videoconferencing solution that works across PCs and Macs (Linux version coming) and which allows up to six participants in a video call, as well as recording, text chat, direct file sharing and a lot more. In general, OoVoo is rather easy to use as it mimics many Skype interface conventions, icons and tools. So, for those who already use Skype, OoVoo feels right away not too intimidating. There are yes a lot of other buttons and functions but the basic operations can be learned quite rapidly without the need to read a manual. Videoconferencing quality is also good, and at least on a par with Skype (which only allows two people per video conversation) if not altogether better. The viewing interface is also effective, with clear name labels above each participant window and an overall layout which organizes all conferencing participants in an automatic way.ù This new video conferencing technology from OoVoo is not launching today and it has been available for over six months already, just enough time to make it ready for prime time and for a full review.
2 MCA state reps to resign
SEREMBAN: Two state MCA leaders yesterday announced that they would not be defending their seats in the coming general election. The duo, Temiang assemblyman Datuk Lee Yuen Fong and Repah assemblymen Datuk Gary Gan Chin Yap, would make way for new blood.
The tricky part for Lee's decision is that his son Jason must be named the new candidate for Temiang.
According to MCA insiders, Lee and his son met party president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting on Sunday and it had been agreed that Jason be named the candidate.
Lee, known as Tiger Lee, decided to step down after having been in politics since 1982. He was a DAP assemblyman before joining the MCA in 1997.
"I am stepping down to make way for new blood. I will support any candidate named by the party president to contest," he said, not wanting to discuss about his son.
BEA’s stance on Oracle deal pummeled
The reaction to BEA's rejection of a $17 a share takeover offer from Oracle is brutal. Of course, billionaire Carl Icahn has issues. But analysts aren't too thrilled either. Either BEA knows something the rest of us don't or is delusional. A sampling of comments: Credit Suisse analyst Jason Maynard, in a research note titled 'Hope isn't a strategy,' wrote: BEA's shares could easily trade back to the $12-$14 level absent activist pressure and Oracle's bid. While BEA has reduced expenses, it still hasn't offered a sustainable strategy and demonstrated consistent execution to warrant a standalone share price above $17 let alone $21. We think the $17 per share proposal is more than reasonable, and certainly worth the time and effort of BEA's management team to begin earnest negotiations.
J.D. Power and Associates Reports: Sony Models Sweep Inaugural ...
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sony DCR-DVD Series(1) and DCR-SR Series of camcorders rank highest in their respective segments, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Camcorder Usage and Satisfaction Study(SM) released today. The inaugural study measures customer satisfaction with standard definition analog or digital camcorders across two segments: standard definition ($399 or less); and premium standard definition ($400 or more). Within each segment, three factors are examined to determine overall camcorder performance: appearance and styling; operation; and performance and video quality. Sony products occupy the top two rank positions in the standard definition segment. The Sony DCR-DVD Series, which comes equipped with direct DVD burning capabilities, ranks highest with an index score of 744 points on a 1,000-point scale.

For the Unit-III and Unit-IV, orders have been placed with the Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) and by the end of this year, renovation will start, which will also reduce pollution.
